The Living Room Church events in A Third Place in Turley
We have lots of volunteers from different churches in the Turley area and from those with no church affiliation. We hope to grow with even more and help all the churches in our area grow in service and spirit. We also have The Living Room church meeting on Wednesday evenings in A Third Place, open to all. In May on Wednesdays there will be a special read and discuss of the latest book by Shane Claiborne called "Jesus for President: politics for ordinary radicals". Common meal at 6 p.m. open to all, followed by the conversation, and all are invited to stay for the 7:30 p.m. short service of prayers, candle-lighting, communion. ReTree Turley: 600 Trees to GiveAway April 5
A Third Place Center has received a donation of 600 trees of all varieties, redbuds, birches, ash, and more, which will be given away on Saturday, April 5, here at the Center, as part of our partneership with OU and Turley Talks. Spread the word. Help us beautify our area and make a living statement to the world. We also received a printer/copier for use in the free internet and library area of A Third Place Center. Our "A Third Place" Center received more television coverage this weekend, on Tulsa Channel 2 news, as we did our Turley Talks kick-off event partnering with OU. The video included shots outside and some inside our space as the community forum were being held, and they also did some shots of places around the community. They were here early in the day and their coverage focused more on the needs of the area, while the program itself is focusing on the assets we have, uncovering and unleashing them, and building community from the inside out and the bottom up rather than waiting for "fixes" to come from anywhere or anyone else.
Free meal for those who participate. Next gatherings will be Friday, April 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sat. April 5, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

OU-Turley Bedlam Medical Clinic Begins Tue. Feb. 5
Great News. The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Bedlam Medical Clinic will begin in Turley at the community center A Third Place, 6514 N. Peoria Ave. This "full doctor's office on wheels" will be here on Tuesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to Noon beginning Feb. 5. Walk-ins are welcome. It is for insured and uninsured. It is full primary care with ability to refer to all specialties and all hospitals in the area. To reserve an appointment and to find out more information, call 660-3614. We also have patient registration information and brochures about the clinic at A Third Place. To pick them up call us at 794-4637 or 691-3223 and come by the Center. Spread the word about this important new service in the Greater Turley area of north Tulsa, Turley, Sperry, and surroundings.

A Third Place Center/Library Expansion
Thanks to a major donation of shelves and books from Stoner Nesbitt and GoodBooks, when they moved from Turley, the library portion of "A Third Place" has more than doubled, and we are going to be making a more attractive children's library and reading section, and we are able to expand the donation room with lots of more shelves. Halfway House, Round Two: Public Meeting Aug. 13
This comes from a flier posted around Turley now:
Progressive Rehabilitation Services and Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church have filed an appeal in district court to overturn the County Board of Adjustment's denial to place the Cornerstone Halfway House in Turley at the site of the former church, 1821 E. 66th St. N. There will be a public meeting organized by the Turley Community Association and area residents to be held Monday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. at the site, now used by New Heights Christian Center, to give an update on the action and the protest response.
